A predisposition to fall in love with an artwork may sound quite a hedonistic inclination. It most likely is but also a rather quieter path towards self-discovery. I am in the process of refurbishing a property (more news and photographs coming up) and I look at corners and empty walls longing for the textures, the ideas and the emotions of specific artworks I have seen before. I imagine how it will be to live with them and the new ways in which I will get to see them. One can dream!
Today’s post is just that. My art wish list of dedicate and nuanced male nudes by Lionel Wendt; the textile works by Brent Wadden; the mysterious and haunted narratives behind R.H. Quaytman’s works; Alexandre da Cunha’s playful objects; Mira Schendel’s irreverent and full of complexities use of symbols; Carol Bove’s uncompromising vision towards materials and architectural concepts and Laurie Simmons’ striking work with and for women.
